TCC Acts Against Beauty Clinic for Service Discrepancy

A beauty clinic provided substandard post-sales beauty service with unqualified medical personnel. Following a complaint to the Thailand Consumers Council, which assisted in mediating the issue, the consumer has been refunded.

A consumer in Chachoengsao province lodged a complaint to Thailand Consumers Council because she wished to cancel a beauty service but the beauty clinic refused to accommodate her request. The reason for the complaint was apparently that the clinic provided substandard beauty treatment performed by non-medical personnel, which contradicted its advertised claims.

In the beginning, the consumer sought to terminate the contract and obtain a full refund, but the clinic refused. Subsequently, the consumer contacted the TCC and lodged a complaint. An officer from TCC’s Consumer Protection and Rights Section initiated a mediation process to resolve the issue.

Later, the TCC received clarification from the consumer that the clinic had offered a reimbursement of 20,000 baht. In appreciation, the consumer left a message on the TCC website expressing gratitude for the successful assistance received. She emphasized that the presence of organizations like TCC in Thai society that genuinely support consumers during challenging times is commendable. It is believed that Thai society as a whole could benefit from individuals asserting and protecting their rights.

In cases where consumer rights are infringed, such as being coerced into purchasing beauty courses or encountering service-related issues, individuals can provide supporting documents like contracts, service application forms, payment proofs, receipts, refund requests, or cancellation letters.
